A team of Master of Urban Planning students have won the inaugural Emerging Leaders' Sustainable Plan Award from the American Planning Association for their submission titled, Stormwater Solutions: Revising Toledo's Stormwater Credit Program.

The team included students Yohan Chang, Ashlee Grace, Diego Horna Munoz, Katie Knapp, Megan McPhilimy, Christian Roadman, Katy Ryan and Katie Wholey. Faculty advisors for the project were Larissa Larsen and Eric Dueweke.

The winning project sought to revise the City of Toledo's current stormwater credit program in order to increase its effectiveness through a series major revisions and strategies. The strategies included: targeted outreach and communication to inspire more active participation in the program, a residential incentive program to encourage community-wide involvement in stormwater management, and, leveraging partnerships with community organizations.

The Excellence in Sustainability Awards were presented on April 27 during the 2014 National Conference of the American Planning Association in Atlanta.
